Lorin Stein is editor of The Paris Review. He was previously a senior editor at Farrar, Straus and Giroux, where he worked with such writers as Elif Batuman, Lydia Davis, Jeffrey Eugenides, Jonathan Franzen, and John Jeremiah Sullivan. He has contributed criticism to The New York Review of Books and Harper’s. His translation of Michel Houellebecq’s Submission will appear this fall. The French government has named him a Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters for his services to French literature.
