Jacob Lief is founder and CEO of Ubuntu Education Fund, a nonprofit organization that takes vulnerable children in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, from cradle to career. Ubuntu targets comprehensive household stability, health, and educational services to a community of 400,000, focusing on the depth rather than the breadth of their impact. Lief was honored by making Fortune Magazine’s 40 under 40 list in 2016. In 2009 Lief was selected as an Aspen Institute Global Fellow, and in 2010 he was recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader. He served as a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania in 2014 and is the host of Philanthropy Unfiltered—a podcast series produced in partnership with the university’s Center for High Impact Philanthropy. Lief has also authored the book I Am Because You Are (2015).
