Kaneza Schaal is a New York City–based theater artist. Her new work Jack&Jill is a multimedia comedy of errors that draws on social codes and trainings—from prison re-entry programs to debutante balls. Schaal’s piece Go Forth premiered with Performance Space122 and was presented at the Genocide Memorial Amphitheater in Kigali, Rwanda, this summer. She has received a 2016 Creative Capital Award, Bogliasco Fellowship, Nathan Cummings Foundation grant, and Princess Grace George C. Wolfe Award. Schaal is an arts education advocate and just began a new project with young Syrian and Eritrean refugees at the International Children’s Book Library in Munich, addressing migration and microfiction.
